Heidelberg Engineering’s Tosh Vadhia Announced as New Ambassador for Orbis UK

Tosh Vadhia, Head of Global Accounts at Heidelberg Engineering joins blindness prevention charity Orbis to help raise awareness of avoidable sight loss

London, 16.12.25 – Through Tosh Vadhia’s support, Heidelberg Engineering has played a key role in supporting Orbis’s mission to end avoidable blindness, focusing on low- and middle-income countries where access to quality eye care is often limited.

Tosh Vadhia, Orbis Ambassador

Since its inception in 2023, Tosh Vadhia has played a key role in building and strengthening the partnership between Orbis and Heidelberg Engineering. With over 20 years in the eye care sector, he has used his experience and international network to help eye care teams work more effectively and reach more patients. His support has created opportunities for clinicians to learn, connect, and improve patient care, ensuring that the company’s expertise and resources are directed to the places where they are needed most.

Heidelberg Engineering – a leading provider of advanced ophthalmic imaging technologies – has helped to fund vital training opportunities for eye care professionals worldwide through Orbis’s award-winning telemedicine platform, Cybersight.

Cybersight is a boundary-pushing e-learning platform founded by Orbis to improve the knowledge, skills, and expertise of eye health professionals around the world. These live global webinars are especially important for clinicians who may not have access to the same training resources as those in higher-income settings, and who often work in regions affected by conflict or resource shortages.

Alongside training, Heidelberg Engineering has also supported Orbis’s research into retinoblastoma, a serious childhood eye cancer, showing that telemedicine can improve surgical outcomes and directly benefit patient care and survival.

Commenting on his appointment, Tosh Vadhia says: “I’m honoured to be appointed as an Orbis UK Ambassador, and to support their vital work in ending avoidable blindness worldwide. Through our partnership, Heidelberg Engineering helps train and support eye care professionals in regions where access to resources and expertise is limited. As an Ambassador, I look forward to strengthening Heidelberg Engineering’s support, engaging in Orbis’s campaigns, and raising awareness of the importance of eye care globally.”

Celebrating Tosh Vadhia’s new role as an Orbis Ambassador, Orbis UK CEO Rebecca Cronin says: “We are delighted to welcome Tosh Vadhia as an Orbis Ambassador. Tosh has been helping to bring vital training and resources to eye care professionals in low- and middle-income countries. His commitment to leveraging technology and education to improve patient outcomes aligns perfectly with Orbis’s mission. As an Ambassador, Tosh will play an important role in our campaigns and initiatives, helping to inspire, support and ensure more clinicians around the world have the knowledge and tools they need to save sight.”

An expanded partnership

Earlier this year, Orbis and Heidelberg Engineering announced an expanded partnership to make training and resources more accessible to eye care professionals worldwide. The company helped to deliver four additional Cybersight webinars in 2025 on topics including diagnosing eye conditions, such as glaucoma, and improving surgical techniques.

The collaboration also includes a new clinical project in Lusaka, Zambia, where Heidelberg Engineering will deploy its ANTERION imaging system to support pre-operative eye scans, helping clinicians make cataract surgery safer and more precise.
