Heidelberg, Germany – Heidelberg Engineering, the leader in multimodal ophthalmic imaging, renowned for the high-quality diagnostic images of the SPECTRALIS® and ANTERION® platforms, focuses on optimizing clinic workflow at EURETINA and ESCRS in Paris.
As the foundation of the HEIDELBERG EYE EXPLORER healthcare IT platform, HEYEX 2 empowers clinicians to improve patient care by providing fast and secure access to diagnostic images, reports, and maps from all Heidelberg Engineering devices on a single platform. Built on the simplicity of the original HEYEX platform, the power of HEYEX 2 lies in fast access to images and increased security. The enhanced search facility, integrated DICOM viewing, and automated reports and archiving streamline workflow. It scales from a small practice with just a single device to a large enterprise with numerous Heidelberg instruments and multiple sites. HEIDELBERG EYE EXPLORER scales even further, building on upgradeable modules: HEYEX PACS offers the full integration of the Heidelberg Engineering ecosystem with third-party information sources, while HEYEX EMR provides an electronic medical records system to manage and visualize all ophthalmic patient records in a flexible, intuitive interface.
The new SPECTRALIS Glaucoma Module Premium Edition (GMPE) deviation maps visualize structural loss at a glance, saving the clinician valuable time. Comparing the retina, GCL, and RNFL thickness measurements with a reference database further enhances the diagnostic value of the GMPE thickness maps. The deviation maps highlight the probability of thickness measurements that are not “within normal limits”, revealing regions and associated patterns that have statistically significant thinner or thicker values.
The new SPECTRALIS High Magnification Module (HMM) is designed to visualize more microstructural detail of the ocular fundus than is possible with a standard lens. With the new lens and software module, the SPECTRALIS platform provides the flexibility to identify a region of interest with either the standard 30° field of view, the widefield 55° or the ultra-widefield 102°, and then to magnify it using the HMM to obtain high-resolution 8° x 8° infrared reflectance images. Used in combination with other imaging modalities such as OCTA, the detail seen in HMM images may provide novel insights into the pathogenesis and progression of retinal diseases.
ANTERION utilizes the power of high-resolution swept-source OCT images to provide the most important anterior segment examinations and measurements in one modular, upgradeable platform. The Cataract App combines very precise biometry measurements needed for confident IOL calculation. The app now features the Barrett formulas Universal II, Toric, True-K and True-K Toric. Clinicians can upgrade their ANTERION to use the Barrett formulas in the integrated spheric and toric IOL calculator adding convenience to the pre-operative routine. The company has further refined the acquisition speed within the Cataract App, combining all biometry measurements and comprehensive cornea assessments in only one acquisition step, significantly reducing chair-time even more. Surgeons can further benefit from the new IOL CON Database import that grants them access to the most up-to-date IOLs, as well as optimized constants in order to streamline their workflow.
