Heidelberg, June 16, 2025 – Heidelberg Engineering proudly announces the launch of the ZinserLab, a new innovation hub dedicated to accelerating the development of cutting-edge imaging technologies with clear clinical value for eye care. Named in honor of Dr. Gerhard Zinser, the company’s late co-founder, the lab pays tribute to his visionary leadership and enduring legacy in diagnostic innovation. More than a development unit, the ZinserLab creates a dedicated home for innovation – where ideas, talent, and collaboration converge to help shape the future of ocular imaging.
“Gerhard Zinser was instrumental in building Heidelberg Engineering’s reputation for precision, excellence, and purpose. As a physicist and entrepreneur, he combined scientific rigor with clinical insight to bring transformative imaging solutions to ophthalmology. Now, also as part of the EssilorLuxottica Group, Heidelberg Engineering continues this legacy with the creation of the ZinserLab – a clear expression of our enduring commitment to innovation,” said Arianna Schoess Vargas, and Kfir Azoulay, Managing Directors of Heidelberg Engineering.
The ZinserLab is both a tribute to Gerhard Zinser’s heritage and a strategic commitment to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. “It is designed to facilitate the transition from pioneering research to scientifically validated solutions – addressing real-world needs in ophthalmic imaging and ultimately providing clinical value. Like Gerhard, we strive to speak with researchers, clinicians, and R&D teams at eye level and drive technological innovation in eye care. His spirit is exactly what we aim to carry forward”, said the newly appointed co-leaders of the ZinserLab, Dr. Sebastian Rausch, Clinical Development Manager for Investigational Technologies and Dr. Roland Rocholz, Technology and Innovation Manager.
By aligning innovation with purpose, the ZinserLab embodies Heidelberg Engineering’s forward-looking mission – pioneering imaging and data technologies to optimize ophthalmic solutions and support learning that advances research and empowers clinicians who want to improve the holistic health of patients.
